Group Rules

Confidentiality is maintained. This means that what is said and who is present in the group is knowledge that remains within the group setting and is not discussed outside of group.

Staff is required by law to report to the proper authorities:
1) When a person shares information that indicates that there is a danger of harm to themselves or others.
2) When a person discloses current abuse of any kind: emotional, physical, and sexual.

Group will start on time. Members are expected to be there. Members later than ten minutes after the scheduled group time will not be permitted into group and will be counted as a no show.

Members will read all the instructional and counseling material and seek to apply them to their life in an effort to develop a lifestyle that is free of substance abuse.

Each member is responsible for his/her own behavior, choices, or emotions.

Members shall come to group prepared to share problems and/or success arising in their live during group discussion to gain understanding and information.

Members are encouraged to participate but the right to pass is honored. Frequent refusal to participate becomes a treatment issue for exploration.

Members strive toward an ideal of being accepting and tolerant of others.

There will be one person at a time speaking. Those not speaking have the responsibility to listen. Members should not monopolize group.

Members have different stories and experiences, please be sensitive to each other’s feelings and life situation.

Members will work at using “I” language. This means talking about what is true for you, and not what you think is true for others.

Members will dress appropriately for the group setting. Visible under garments, tank tops, tube tops, half shirts or short shorts are not acceptable for group attendance. There will be no clothing which displays gang affiliation, drug paraphernalia, alcohol pictures or slogans, or pornographic pictures, symbols, or slogans.

Members will abstain from the use of alcohol and other mood-altering substances for the duration of treatment unless prescribed by a physician and verified by prescription.

There is no food allowed in the group rooms. Please clean up after yourself when leaving the group room.

Leaving the room during group is discouraged. Please take care of business prior to group.
